Moneyball Pickleball Pro vs PickLM
Compare the price of running your event—and what you need to manage on tournament day. Neither the setup fee nor a list of features tells the whole story.
PickLM's homepage currently offers approved clubs full access at no cost during its Founder Membership launch period. A future standard organizer price is not published there. Do not assume the launch offer is permanent or that every club qualifies. This comparison distinguishes published facts from questions you should verify with each provider.
Pricing and workflow side by side
| Decision | Moneyball Pickleball Pro | PickLM |
|---|---|---|
| Organizer access | Player accounts free. Host: $25 for one credit or $60 for three. One credit covers one division / format / age group / DUPR range. Operator $149/month; Empire $279/month. Annual billing available. | Free launch-period Founder Membership for approved clubs; confirm eligibility and future terms. |
| Online entry fee | $2 platform fee added to each online entry payment, paid by the registering player. Stripe processing fees are separate. | Built-in paid registrations advertised; the reviewed homepage does not specify a per-payment rate. Confirm processor and registration fees. |
| Other organizer costs | $3 per active player whose platform fee was not already paid online, settled by the organizer before play. Credits and subscriptions do not waive platform fees; authorized waivers can apply. | No club access charge during approved Founder Membership. Payment-processing terms should be confirmed separately. |
| Formats | Pool Play + Playoffs, Bracket-Only and Round Robin; singles, fixed doubles and rotating-partner formats. | Advertises round robin, flight ladders, single/double elimination, pool play and open play. |
| DUPR | Linked ratings, seeding and result submission on organizer plans. Confirm sanctioning and account requirements before advertising a sanctioned event. | Advertises automatic submission from DUPR-enabled events. Confirm the event and account requirements. |
| Multi-stop operations | Empire: progressive tours, standings, Grand Finals qualification/invites and sponsor operations. | Tour/finals parity was not established from the reviewed public page. Ask the provider to demonstrate your required workflow rather than assuming it is absent. |
Compare the right unit
A free launch offer for an approved club is not the same pricing model as a paid division credit or ongoing organizer subscription. Check how long the offer lasts and what paid registrations cost before projecting a season budget.
For Moneyball, 40 entries at $20 produce $800 in gross entry fees—not profit. Venue costs, prizes, platform fees, processing, refunds and applicable taxes still need to be budgeted. See all plan prices and inclusions.
Switch with a small event first
- Keep an export of your existing roster, results and payment records where the old provider permits it.
- Import player data using the supported CSV template, and check identities, partners and registration status.
- Create one division with your actual scoring rules, court count and entry fee. Check the browser scorecard workflow before opening registration.
- Share the new event link with players. Explain which account features require signup and which QR links work in a browser.
No automatic historical-results, subscription or payment migration is promised. Handle any old-provider refunds and settlement through the original payment provider.
Questions before switching
Is Moneyball always cheaper than PickLM?
No. PickLM currently advertises free access for approved clubs during Founder Membership. Moneyball's Host credits and organizer subscriptions are paid, and player platform fees apply separately. Compare eligibility, future pricing, processing fees and the workflows your club actually needs.
Can I bring my existing players when switching?
Use the previous provider's permitted roster export and Moneyball's player CSV template. Check required fields, DUPR identities, partners and paid status before opening registration. This is a roster import, not an automatic transfer of accounts, historical results, payments or subscriptions. Keep the previous provider's records for reconciliation.
Do players need to install the app to report scores?
Players can open an activity or match QR link in a browser. Browser scoring needs an internet connection to load and submit results. A Moneyball account is needed for personal account features; a browser scorecard does not require installing the app.
Can I reuse event settings instead of answering the setup questions again?
Duplicate an existing Moneyball event to reuse its settings, then review the new date, venue, courts, registration rules and entry fee before publishing. Reusing settings does not mean copying old results or payment transactions.
